Puppy Availability

At Keepsake Labradors we are totally devoted to breeding quality puppies. While we do breed regularly throughout the year, there is never a guarantee that we will have puppies ready to go on exactly the same time table that you would like to welcome one into your home. The reason for this is twofold. First of all, many of our litters have deposits placed in advance reserving a puppy of a particular color and or gender. This can limit the availability of color and or gender from any given litter when they are born. Secondly, you never know when Mother Nature will decide to throw a monkey wrench into our plans. While we will try to keep you apprised of current and planned litters, we will not always be able to update our site as fast as we may find homes for our puppies. Also we never know how many puppies each litter will have, so availability varies. For the most part Keepsake Labradors is normally able to provide puppies from our litters or to put individuals in touch with others who can just about anytime throughout the year.

Due to the fluctuating availability and demand for a Keepsake Labrador we recommend that interested parties place a deposit well in advance of when they hope to adopt their puppy. All that is required as a deposit to reserve your puppy is $100. If you are interested in sending a deposit we ask that you let us know a gender and color preference if you are able. Checks can be made out to Judy McCormick or Keepsake Labradors LLC. If you wish to send a deposit it can be sent by mail to:

Judy McCormick

4980 Newark Road

Elizabeth WV, 26143

It is typically a good idea to let us know that you are sending a deposit. The best way to do this is by e-mailing judy@keepsakelabs.com. A telephone call to 724-482-4345 will also suffice, but an e-mail is preferred due to the fact that it generates a digital record of the intended transaction. The whole purpose of notifying us of your intention to send us a deposit is to let us know what and when to expect from whom.

Prices

Here at keepsake we believe in providing quality Labradors. Prices for yellow, black and chocolate puppies start at $900. Our fox red puppies start at $1500. While this may seem like a lot of money, it is a worthwhile expenditure when thought of in terms of the benefits of owning a quality dog versus the potential problems, sadness and frustrations that can be accompanied with the purchase of a dog of lesser quality. To ensure prospective buyers of our commitment to quality each one of our puppies comes with a written health guarantee that can be viewed by clicking here.

Shipping

While we love visitors here at Keepsake and encourage everyone to come visit and select their new family members, we realize that this is not always possible. When someone wants to purchase a puppy and is unable to pay us a visit we make arrangements to have the puppy shipped to them. We have shipped to most locations in the U.S.A. Additionally we have shipped to Europe and South America. The shipping of puppies within the U.S.A. is really not terribly expensive when compared with the price of gasoline today. For this reason prospective owners may be interested in utilizing this method of puppy transportation.

Permanent Identification

At Keepsake Labradors we hope you will treasure your puppy. It is for this reason that we tattoo each puppy before it goes to its new home. While many people are micro-chipping these days, we tattoo. This does not mean however, that we discourage micro-chipping. In fact we are strongly in favor of it. The real reason that Keepsake Labrador's puppies are not micro-chipped before adoption is that microchipping at such a young age is not always so successful. When micro-chipping puppies at a young age it is more likely that the microchip move from its normal placement or be lost. When they move or are lost microchips are not nearly as useful as a means of identification. Not all shelters would think to look anywhere other than the normal placement of the microchip, in the unfortunate event your dog were lost and wound up in a shelter. Our tattoos however are permanent and are an acceptable means of identification for AKC purposes. We do howeverver recommend and encourage you to microchip your puppy when it is slightly older and has grown in to some of its loose skin that causes the microchips to shift or be lost. If you look below you can see one of our puppies modeling their new tattoo. Although the tattoos stretch and become difficult to read as the dog gets older, they are permanent and in most cases readable even on an adult dog. In the picture below you can see a number "5" which indicates the year 2005 when the puppy was born. The letter "K" of course stands for Keepsake and finally the number "93" is simply a personal identification number for this particular puppy.

Tattoo

Unless otherwise previously discussed and agreed upon all of our puppies leave on AKC limited registration. We also reccomend that you have some type of fencing in place at your home in order to keep your puppy safe throughout its life. In many instances new owners prefer the invisible type of underground fencing, which we have found people have had great success with in the past. The most important thing to remeber with this type of fencing is that its effectiveness is dependent upon the dilligence with which the new owner trains their puppy. There are a number of professional companies available to do this installation and training, but if you are looking to save a little money and have the time and wherewithall to do it yourself you might want to visit ezdogfences.com.
